Inventions and Innovations of the 1920s

Overview

After the devastating world war ended in 1918, everyone needed a time of peace, to get their economy back on track and to progress technologically. The 1920s, also known as the roaring 20s, was a time where all of this happened. People partied all day, countries began growing again and most importantly, inventors put on their big brains as significant inventions were made during this period that helped countries progress technologically.

Many of the inventions were linked to the sudden increase in the availability of electricity. From radios to traffic signals, these inventions and innovations helped to push the world further into modernity.

We enjoyed looking through several inventions of the roaring 20s (or older inventions that only became a hit in the 20s) and found everything to be quite interesting, but the most interesting invention of our topic would undoubtedly be that of the radio because of how fascinating it was to see how the purposes of the radio shifted from sole military communication to public entertainment in the 20s. I found it cool how everyone suddenly decided to get a radio in the 20s and how popular they had become in such a short time as every household literally had a radio in it. I believe that radios were the first signs of how addicted to electronic gadgets we all would be later down the line as other gadgets like the television would follow shortly after.
